Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Protection Act became law on 28 June 2002. The Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulationsalso came into effect on that date. This Q&A document provides some general information on how the Act and the regulations affect people living with HIV. It also provides information on changes in policy introduced since 2002, including a positive change in May 2005 concerning disclosure of HIV status by temporary visa applicants.
