Sage supports the information access of HIV and hepatitis C service providers by providing a centralized, online, community-driven space for the collection and dissemination of Canadian-produced digital information resources relevant to HIV and hepatitis C.

Sage is:

1

An online collection of digital information resources created and contributed by Canadian organizations and individuals working in HIV and hepatitis C.

2

A knowledge translation space that connects Canadian HIV and hepatitis C service providers to information resources and their peers in the field.

3

An archive of digital information resources significant to the history of HIV- and hepatitis C-related organizations in Canada.

The Sage collection includes published resources like research reports, pamphlets and annual reports that can be used to learn about HIV and hepatitis C and the response to HIV and hepatitis C in Canada. The collection also includes resources like policies and procedures that are used internally by a contributor to document their work processes and which can serve as models for those doing related work.

Production of this website has been made possible through a financial contribution from the Public Health Agency of Canada.

History

Sage developed from the CONNECT project, a joint library catalogue available online from 2006 to 2010.

CONNECT facilitated the search for HIV-related resources by providing a centralized, online database to simultaneously search the library collections of the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT), AIDS Vancouver, the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network, the Canadian HIV/AIDS Information Centre (CHIC) and CATIE.

Sage was conceived to build upon the work of CONNECT and address a community-identified need for greater online information access and sharing.

Informed by community needs assessments and consultations, Sage is a response to service provider feedback for increased access to digital information resources, improved capacity to share information resources online and better awareness of resource development activities in the HIV and hepatitis C communities.

Sage was developed by the Canadian AIDS Society, Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network and CATIE and was launched in June 2014. Following the launch, Sage was jointly overseen by the Canadian AIDS Society, Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network and CATIE. In 2020, CATIE became the sole administrator for Sage.
